Initially conceived in the late 1980s by then-Harrison Township Supervisor and current Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller - a sailor herself - and organized by a group of local businesses, the event has grown through the years. Now owned by Jim and Jeff Lambrecht, the North River Road marina has served as the event host for the eighth year. In recent years, Lambrecht Marina has hosted the procession. They are an outreach-based rescue that focuses on keeping pets with their families and out of the overcrowded shelters, by providing simple supplies or medical needs. Parade contributions will go toward the K9Animal Rescue Emergency Networking System (KARENS). (PHOTO COURTESY OF HARRISON TOWNSHIP BOAT PARADE) A view of the boat parade from up above from a drone. Runners-up will receive $500 and $300, and the best-decorated resident’s house will pocket $100. Captains compete for first place prize of $1,000.
